Cetto AG - High-prescision radioactivity measurement technology
Since 1992, Cetto AG has been developing high-performance measurement systems for detecting radioactive radiation. Depending on the measurement task, our stationary and mobile systems use detectors made from different materials and in various sizes, meeting the highest standards of reliability and safety.
Radioactive sources are used in numerous industrial, scientific, and medical applications. They can also originate from natural sources and, for example, accumulate inside pipes. If these materials enter the recycling cycle through improper or illegal disposal, or are accidentally melted down during steel production, they can cause significant economic, environmental, and health-related damage.
Our radioactivity measurement systems detect radioactive radiation at an early stage, helping to effectively protect employees, facilities, the environment, and the public.
Tailored measurement systems
Our systems feature a flexible, modular design and can be adapted to a wide range of applications and requirements. Solutions range from stationary monitoring systems for trucks, trains, and conveyor belts to mobile systems for grabs and laboratory equipment for steelworks.
Innovation and experience
Through continuous research and technological development, we provide measurement systems that meet the latest technical standards. At Cetto AG, we do not offer off-the-shelf measuring devices. Instead, we work closely with our customers to develop solutions precisely tailored to their specific operating conditions and measurement requirements.

Stationary portal monitoring system
ConRaD C5
The stationary ConRaD C5 portal monitoring system enables reliable, fully automated screening of all incoming and outgoing materials for radioactivity. Trucks and trains are dynamically monitored for radioactive radiation as they pass through the portal.
In case of an alarm, nuclide-specific analysis can be performed, depending on the detector type installed. This allows radioactive isotopes such as Americium-241, Cesium-137, or Cobalt-60 to be identified, while distinguishing natural background radiation from medical and artificial industrial sources.
Your benefits at a glance:
- Individually configurable number, size, and type of detectors, tailored to your specific requirements
- Complete recording and documentation of all measurement results
- Automatic identification and classification of different radioactive nuclides (e.g., Am-241, Cs-137, or Co-60), depending on the detector type
- Reliable alarm notification in case of an incident, both visually and acoustically on site and by email to predefined recipients
Mobile measurement system
ConRaD GrabScan
For measuring material handled by grabs, the can be equipped with crystal detectors. Thanks to the short distance between the material being measured and the detector, combined with the long measurement time during material handling, the ConRaD GrabScan delivers outstanding measurement performance.
The detector signals are transmitted via modem to the evaluation unit in the crane operator’s cabin, where visual and acoustic alarms are triggered in case of an alarm.
Because of its crystal detectors, the ConRaD GrabScan is capable of identifying radioactive nuclides.
Your benefits at a glance
- Individually configurable number and size of crystal detectors, tailored to the dimensions of the grab
- Complete recording and documentation of all measurement results
- Ability to detect and identify various radioactive nuclides (e.g., Am-241, Cs-137, or Co-60)
- Reliable alarm notification in the event of an incident, with visual and acoustic signals in the operator’s cabine
Automatic monotoring of materials for radioactive contamination
ConRaD Dust Scan, ConRaD Conveyor
Radioactively contaminated dust, slag, or exhaust air pose significant health risks if radioactive particles enter the human body. Since radioactivity cannot be detected by human senses, reliable measurement systems are essential for early detection.
Our measurement systems continuously monitor conveyor belts, silos, and exhaust air systems for radioactive contamination. If radioactive radiation is detected, an alarm is triggered automatically. This enables radionuclides such as Cs-137 , to be detected in dust even after the melting process.
Your benefits at a glance
- Fully automated monitoring of conveyor belts, silos, and exhaust air systems
- Continuous, real-time detection of radioactive contamination
- Highly sensitive detectors for reliable radiation measurement
- Rapid alarm notification when predefined threshold values are exceeded

Reconditioning instead of replacement - Making smart use of resources
For us, sustainability begins with keeping valuable resources in use for as long as possible. Through professional reconditioning of worn components, we give them a new lease of life rather than replacing them prematurely. This not only conserves raw materials and energy but also reduces waste and the need for new production.
Our reconditioning processes significantly extend product-longevity of various components without compromising on quality, safety, or performance. Every reconditioned component helps conserve materials and reduce our customers’ environmental footprint.
In this way, we combine economic efficiency with responsible business practices, supporting a sustainable circular economy in which existing resources are used to their full potential.
Renewable energy for our electricity needs
We now source more than 80% of our electricity from renewable energy.
A substantial share of this energy is generated by our own photovoltaic system, which covers more than 65% of our electricity needs through solar power.
This reduces our reliance on conventionally generated electricity and represents a tangible contribution to a more sustainable energy supply. At the same time, we continue to work towards increasing the share of renewable energy and improving energy efficiency at our site.
From our point of view, the use of renewable energy is an ongoing process and an integral part of responsible corporate management. Through our photovoltaic system and the procurement of green electricity, we are laying the foundations for a sustainable future today – and we are committed to continuing along this path step by step.
Bee sustainable - Connecting with nature on our company premises
Sometimes, sustainability starts on a very personal level. In their spare time, our company’s management pursues beekeeping with great passion. Inspired by this personal interest, we have our own beehives on our company premises.
For us, beekeeping is not a large-scale conservation project, but first and foremost an expression of a personal appreciation for nature. At the same time, it brings additional benefits: honeybees pollinate plants in the surrounding area and highlight the importance of diverse habitats and an sufficient supply of flowering plants.
With our bees, we aim to bring a little piece of nature into our everyday working environment, spark interest in beekeeping, and encourage a more mindful approach to our environment.
We see this initiative as a small, personal contribution to nature – not as a substitute for the essential protection of wild pollinators and their natural habitats.
